A section of the greenway named in homage to Régine Reynier | City of Geneva

At the beginning of 2024, the canton requested the city so that it appoints A glass lane section Being on its territory, between rue Berthe-Vadier and the Grange-Canal chemin.

Previously, the Council of State formalized the proposals for the name of the town of Thônex of several sections of the Verdean on its territory. These names highlight a portion of the history of Geneva in connection with the resistance networks during the Second World War.

The canton therefore asked the city to resume the theme of the resistance and to find A resistant woman name (and fulfilling the other criteria of the regulation, namely having died for more than 10 years and having contributed to local history) for this portion of the greenway.

After carrying out research on several women who have been active in resistance in the Geneva region, The city of Geneva proposes to appoint this section of the greenway in homage to Régine Reynier.

    Régine-Reynier track

Born in 1917 in a French family, Régine Reynier engages in resistance once France occupied. She spies on German military facilities and collects information she transmits to an officer, Paul de Saugy, who runs from Switzerland several intelligence networks for Switzerland and the Allies. She collaborates with famous resistants and passes the Franco-Swiss border many times by carrying documents or by exfiltrating sought after persons. At the end of the war, she moved to Geneva.
