Giant foggers: 5 additional devices to enjoy a fine mist
Tested last summer and much appreciated by the public, the Giant mistateurs come back in force in 2025! These tubular structures fitted with nozzles and covered with a canvas have liked that the city decided to add five short stories for this summer.
The new locations are located in places frequented particularly sensitive to hot weather: Park Hentsch, in Saint-Gervais, at Baud-Bovy Park, at the entrance to the beach of Eaux-Vives and on the Quai du Rhône.
Micro-oasis: a refreshing break in a corner of greenery
Deployed since 2021, micro-oasis offer Green spaces with sittings to rest and cool off in town. This summer, three shaded structures will be installed near gaming space and paddling pools to provide comfort to the accompanying children. Three others will take place in the Pâquis district, particularly mineral and exposed to heat.
Shaded areas: simple with high impact solutions
Set up during last summer, shade in the form of large canvases or parasols allow to avoid the direct sun and the formation of heat islands. The 8 structures installed in the city thus creating ideal areas to take a break.
These initiatives are part of the City of Geneva climate strategy which aims to adapt public spaces to climatic challenges by ensuring their proper use even during high temperatures. They make it possible to lower the temperature felt and thus encourage the inhabitants and inhabitants, in particular those which are the most vulnerable to the hot weather, to continue to frequent public spaces in a welcoming and friendly setting.
