Righter and friendly streets in the Pâquis district! | City of Geneva

    Two new placets rue Adhémar-Fabri

Previously dedicated mainly to motorized traffic, this street has undergone a deep transformation in favor of soft mobility. Two placets were created at each end of the street. Chairs and a drinking fountain were arranged there on a permeable coating.

The pedestrian surfaces have been enlarged and the circulation of bikes has been improved with the creation of a bi-directional cycle path. Thus, the street serves as a cycle link between the Quai du Mont-Blanc, the Saint-Gervais district and the Ponts de l’Ile.

The existing trees at Adhémar-Fabri Street have been preserved and 17 new specimens have been planted. Flower flowerbeds complete the vegetation.

Finally, public lighting has been renovated, as well as the sanitation network and the sidewalks during its nine months of work.

Redevelopment and vegetation of Chaponnière and Friborg streets

These two streets have completely redesigned to allow the terraces of cafes and restaurants to deploy on paved floors. Bringing more conviviality and strengthening the attractiveness of the city center, this development includes a dozen benches, as well as a significant contribution of vegetation. The work lasted 6 months.

On rue Chaponnière, Twelve new trees have been plantedwith shrub massifs and perennial plants. At the rue de Friborg, Nine trees have been planteds on the lake side. On the Jura side, the planting of trees in the ground not being possible due to the presence of networks in the basement, platforms were composed of shrubs and perennial plants were installed.

Rue Chaponnière is now pedestrian, while at the rue de Friborg, the traffic regime at 20km/ha was maintained. Additional parking spaces for bikes have been created.
